Maris

Maris graduated with a degree in Illustration from University of the Arts in 2007. She then realized sitting at home drawing alone wasn’t great for her mental health, and instead spent the next 12 years traveling, nannying, teaching, and making jewelry under the name Naturalist’s Cabinet (if you like Philly craft shows, maybe you already met!)

Maris was very lucky that when health issues got in the way of making jewelry, she was able to start her tattoo journey after the first Covid vaccine came out. She works in a variety of styles, and loves themes of nature (especially birds, bones, and bugs!), ornamental design (especially gothic, victorian, medieval, etc), historical objects and art, architecture, and creative text. She also likes doing cover ups and blast overs. Maris places a lot of importance on creating a body-positive environment, and has a great time listening to people talk about their jobs/interests. She really loves doing tattoo fundraisers as a way of building community.
